No Stopping on Main Carriage road sign

The No Stopping Sign (DoT 642) indicates that drivers must not stop along the road unless in case of emergency. The red cross on a blue circular background makes the restriction easy to recognise and is most commonly used on 24-hour clearways, busy junctions, and routes where stopping would obstruct traffic.

When placed on a 24-hour clearway, the restriction applies to the main carriageway while vehicles can generally use a lay-by unless separate signs state otherwise. Repeater signs are normally used along longer clearway routes to remind drivers of the restriction.

Manufactured in the UK with highly reflective RA2 materials, the sign provides strong visibility in low-light conditions and is suitable for long-term outdoor use. It can also be used alongside other signs or road markings where additional stopping restrictions apply.
